Google's Android 5.1.1 Lollipop in works, may fix memory leak

Google has started seeding out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to but many are still concerned with the reported memory leak issue that hasn't been fixed with it. The good news is Android SDK manager pushes the new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update as part of the SDK package. For now it nests under the development platform and also ensures a quick release to the devices running Android 5.1 for now. Enthusiasts should be banking on this version to get the memory leak issue that drains battery and deteriorates performance fixed....

 

LG outs 5.5" QHD IPS LCD display panel with 120% color gamut

LG took the wraps off a new-generation 5.5" QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) IPS LCD display with 538 ppi and 120% color gamut. The hot new component will appear in the upcoming LG G4 later this month, on April 28. The Korean giant's new display panel utilizes advance in-cell touch technology developed by LG Display. The tech delivers high touch sensitivity and can even respond to touch commands with water drops. A photo-alignment technology used in the display utilizes UV light to achieve higher contrast ratio. The latter is achieved by aligning the liquid crystals to reduce leakage. Furthermore, the contrast ratio of the new panel is 50% higher than that of conventional QHD LCD panels. Brightness on the other hand, has been increased by 30%....

 

Microsoft will launch Lumia 640, 640 XL in India on April 7

Yesterday, Microsoft sent out invites to members of media in India for the launch of Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL . The invite carries the following punchline: "Inspiration doesn't only work 9 to 5." Microsoft Lumia 640 features a 5" IPS ClearBlack display, Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, 8MP rear snapper with LED flash, 1MP front-facing camera, and 2,500 mAh battery. The Lumia 640 XL has a 5.7" IPS ClearBlack display packing the same hardware as the Lumia 640 albeit with a Carl Zeiss optics powered 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Microsoft will certainly introduce dual-SIM variants of both Lumia phones. In India, the Lumia 640 is rumored to be priced at INR 9,999 ($161), while the Lumia XL will be priced at INR13,999...
