Nokia denies plans to re-enter the consumer smartphone market

Nokia has just published a statement on its official company website claiming that it has "no intention to manufacture or sell consumer handsets". Furthermore, the company also deemed as false recent reports that quoted a Nokia executive as confirming the company's ambitions to manufacture smartphones out of an R&D facility in China.

Early Saturday morning, the small nation of Nepal was at the center of the worst earthquake in its history, registering 7.8 on the Richter scale. Since the initial shake-up, as least one significant aftershock has hit the region, measuring a magnitude of 6.7.

Over one thousand people have been reported killed in a quake that impacted the city of Kathmandu to the slopes of Mount Everest and nearby basecamps.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says iPhone shipments for the current product cycle "have peaked"

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is known for making accurate forecasts to clients when it comes to all things Apple. In a note to investors that leaked out on Saturday, Kuo posted some forecasts about Apple's upcoming fiscal second quarter report that is expected to be released after the market closes on Monday. The analyst sees Apple reporting iPhone shipments of 58.3 million units for the January through March period.
