If you want to see how the new music app, that will serve as a tune portal for hundreds of millions of iPhone users, will look like, look no further than the iOS 8.4 beta, with screenshots provided below.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Google Nexus 6
4/14/2015 5:09:00 AM

Introduction
Earning the beloved Nexus moniker isn't something that can be achieved so easily, so when a company is given the opportunity to build one, there's a lot of expectations riding on the back of it. The Google Nexus 6 managed to charm many folks thanks to its phablet-esque size, incredible specs, and the latest iteration of Google's always evolving mobile platform – Android 5.0 Lollipop. In a way, the Nexus 6 was a departure from the more humble-looking Nexus 5, by taking everything to a bigger scale.

Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy S6 follows the ...

Sony Xperia Z4 gets April 20 announcement date?
4/14/2015 4:47:00 AM

According to an informed source, Sony is planning to announce "a new Xperia smartphone" (possibly in Japan), no later than April 20, 2015. With the barrage of Sony Xperia Z4-related leaks we're witnessing on an almost daily basis, we're thinking that Sony won't contain its 2015 flagship much longer. The specs, press renders, and live photos are already here, which hints at a smartphone that clearly can't take much longer to come.

Even though Sony has little to surprise us with at this point, we're keeping our fingers crossed for an Xperia Z4 announcement eight days before the LG G4 (which ...

Beautiful, beyond-Quad HD (1440 x 2560) wallpapers for your Galaxy S6, S6 edge, LG G3, Note 4, and DROID Turbo
4/14/2015 4:43:00 AM

Modern Android flagship superphones come packing quite the hardware, and their displays make no exception. Back in 2014, when LG announced the G3, it was the first to introduce a super pixel-dense, Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution display to the masses, and competitors like Samsung and Motorola wasted no time jumping onto the new bandwagon.

Crystal-clear such displays may be, but if the content being fed to them is of lower quality, then their advantage over traditional, 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution displays, is for naught. One area where this applies is your background wallpaper – ...

Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA update now rolling out to the LG Nexus 4
4/14/2015 4:22:00 AM

After updating the LG-made Nexus 4 to Android 5.0 Lollipop back in November 2014, it looks like Google has started sending Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA updates to Nexus 4 owners. The update measures 174MB, meaning that some of you might be able to download it through your 3G connection (the Nexus 4 lacks LTE compatibility), but it's probably best to download it through a WiFi connection, and save up on your data plan.

Installing the 5.1 Lollipop update will upgrade the Nexus 4 from build number LRX22C to LMY47O. As many probably already know, Android 5.1 Lollipop is an incremental update over ...

4/14/2015 4:07:00 AM

LeTV is a YouTube/Netflix-like company running in China that also creates its own original content. It's not a name that people outside of China have heard much about, but starting today, LeTV unveils three new phones with ambitions to rival the biggest phone makers in the world including Apple and Samsung: the LeTV One, LeTV One Pro, and LeTV Max.

The LeTV One, One Pro, and LeTV Max (that the company weirdly calls 'superphones') offer truly impressive specs for half the price of current flagships. The company is also releasing the full bill of materials (BOM), ...

Huawei Ascend P8 promo poster leak confirms thin and premium body in four colors
4/14/2015 3:43:00 AM

The Huawei P8 announcement is fast approaching, and with it the inevitable leaks started pouting in, this time resulting in an official promotional poster that depicts the phone exactly as we've seen it before - in a thin premium chassis that will apparently be available in four different color schemes.

Come tomorrow, we might be looking at a 5.2" display panel with a standard resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, or a ppi of 424. Allegedly, the panel we'll be looking at is of the 2.5D type – those are tapered off at the edges like on the iPhone 6 – and will be supplied by ...

Spotlight: CF.lumen by Chainfire adapts the colors on your Android device to the sun's position
4/14/2015 3:05:00 AM

Esteemed developer Chainfire has an app for everything technical on Android, so CFLumen fits his collection nice and good. It's an answer to the likes of F.lux and Twilight, apps that change the color temperature of your device's display so it doesn't strain your eyes with unnaturally bright blue hues. CFLumen adapts the colors on your device either according to the sun's position over your place of living, or guided by your own custom configuration.

When the sun is down, your display takes on a warmer color tint, which seems quite unnatural at first - as if your graphics ...

Nexus 5 camera app crashing after the Android 5.1 Lollipop update
4/14/2015 2:48:00 AM

After having the Android 5.1 Lollipop update brick some Nexus 7 units, now users are reporting a bunch of Nexus 5 users have been reporting camera troubles following the Android 5.1 software OTA update.

According to the bug report, already filed with Google, after receiving the Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Nexus 5 camera app force-closes when evoked by third-party apps like Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and often even the default camera app in Android itself. Thankfully, the issue can temporarily be fixed by rebooting the handset, but, needless to say, this is not a solution ...

Lenovo A5860 mid-ranger certified by TENAA could be a new music-phone
4/14/2015 1:44:00 AM

Chinese regulator TENAA, which is the country's equivalent to the FCC in the states, has just given the thumbs up to the Lenovo A5860. Despite specs that won't make you drool, Lenovo has baked a huge speaker into the phone which means that this could be a music-centric device. With this speaker, we could see Lenovo add some audio enhancing technology like Dolby Digital Plus like it has done in the past.

The Lenovo A5860 will carry a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280. Under the hood is a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek CPU. 1GB of RAM is inside with 8GB of native storage. A ...

Samsung "failed" to predict the crazy success of the Galaxy S6 edge, sales reportedly beat expectations
4/13/2015 11:58:00 PM

Last week, on April 10, Samsung officially released its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in various markets around the world, and expectations were already set high. However, it looks like even Samsung is surprised by the success that the two handsets (especially the S6 edge) are having.

Korean publication Yonhap News has it that, until now, Galaxy S6 and S6 edge sales "have been much higher than expected." Reportedly, an industry official declared that, in the last three days, sales in South Korea reached an "all-time high" compared to previous Galaxy S models.

Interestingly, it's said ...

Apple Pay can't get off the ground in China as iOS 8.3 fails to add support for China UnionPay
4/13/2015 11:49:00 PM

While Apple Pay has created interest in mobile payment services in the U.S., in China the feature can't get started. That is because iOS still does not support China UnionPay. That is the only firm that handles interbank payments in the country. Software developers were told in February when the iOS 8.3 beta was seeded, that it would include support for UnionPay. This never happened and an anonymous employee for the Chinese bank said that there are no agreements in place with Apple. He also adds that there is no timetable as to when an agreement will be reached.

For its part, Apple was hoping ...

Nexus users will soon be able to use a "Trusted Voice" to unlock their stock Android device
4/13/2015 11:06:00 PM

The Smart Lock feature that came with the Android 5.0 update allowed users to unlock their phone by pairing it with a Trusted Device using Bluetooth. It allowed you to use a Trusted Face using your phones front-facing camera. Now, the Android 5.1 update along with the update to Google Play Services 7.0 will allow you to use a Trusted Voice to unlock your handset. This feature could be available for Nexus users by the end of this week.

The feature uses the same process used to train your phone to accept the "O.K. Google" command. Google warns you that this is not as secure as using a PIN ...

First of all, you have to open your app drawer, and tap on the Widgets tab. Once your widgets are displayed, you need to look for the "Direct ...

4/13/2015 10:14:00 PM

Right on the heels of the release of OnePlus' homegrown OxygenOS, Cyanogen announced today that it has started pushing out Cyanogen 12 to all OnePlus One users. In its release, Cyanogen underlined the word "all" to indicate that even those in India will be receiving the new ROM, which is based on Android 5.0.

Cyanogen's exclusive deal in India with Micromax had originally forced OnePlus to speed up development of what would eventually be named OxygenOS. That is because a court in New Delhi had originally banned the OnePlus One from competing in the country against the Cyanogen powered ...
