LG G Stylo is a new mid-range smartphone with support for 2TB memory cards
4/21/2015 10:14:00 PM

Less than a week before officially unveiling the G4 flagship, LG today announced another new Android smartphone: the G Stylo. As its name suggests, the new device comes with a stylus pen, and can be seen as a larger successor to the LG G3 Stylus (which was launched in 2014).

Running Android 5.0 Lollipop, the LG G Stylo is by no means a high-end device. It's a mid-range one at best. The handset sports a pretty large 5.7-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels, and is powered by a 64-bit, quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.

What's really interesting about the G Stylo ...

"No iOS Zone" vulnerability in iOS 8 forces iPhones and iPads to crash
4/21/2015 10:01:00 PM

A report states that a vulnerability in iOS 8 can crash users' iPhones and iPads when the devices are connected to a malicious hotspot. The "No iOS Zone" attack can make iOS devices completely unusable by forcing numerous reboots. The only thing that iOS users can do when they find themselves in this situation is to run away from the hotspot's range.

The malicious hotspot uses the Wi-Fi connection to manipulate SSL certificates sent to iOS handsets, forcing a denial-of-service which causes apps and iOS to crash. Speaking at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, Skycure's Adi Sharabani and ...

The infographic mentions ...

Report: Google's MVNO to launch April 22nd?
4/21/2015 8:57:00 PM

A report published on Tuesday indicates that Google's wireless service could debut as soon as tomorrow. A previous leak hinted that Google will allow users to pay for only the amount of data they use each month. A recent study suggests that smartphone users waste $16 worth of data that expires each month. Some carriers like T-Mobile with its Data Stash, and AT&T with Rollover Minutes, allow users to push unused data into the future (one month for AT&T users and up to twelve months for T-Mobile subscribers).

Google's service will use Sprint and T-Mobile's networks and the only phone ...

Apple Watch Sport scratch test shows not so surprising results
4/21/2015 8:12:00 PM

Earlier this month, we showed you a video that put to test the sapphire display of the Apple Watch, eventually concluding that the screen's impossible to scratch.

Now, while the Apple Watch and the Apple Watch Edition both have displays protected by sapphire glass, the Apple Watch Sport (which is the cheapest model among the three) features a screen that's protected by "strengthened Ion-X glass." Obviously, this cannot be as tough as sapphire, but is it good enough to withstand occasional scratches from every day use? Well, Unbox Therapy tried to find out in the video embedded below.

Your iPhone 6 will soon have an e-ink display that automatically changes images thanks to this popSLATE case
4/21/2015 6:07:00 PM

Since we check our smartphones way more often than we probably should, battery life is usually not as great as we'd wish. Russian phone maker Yota is trying to solve this with the YotaPhone, which sports both a regular screen, and an e-ink one that can display various information without the need to turn on the power-hungry regular screen. If you own an iPhone, though, you really have to turn its screen on each time you want to check out something. Well, a company called popSLATE thinks it can help with this issue.

Meet the popSLATE case: a protective case with a built-in 4-inch, shatter ...

It's AT&T's turn to update the rear camera on the HTC One M9
4/21/2015 4:54:00 PM

AT&T has started pushing out an update to its subscribers using the HTC One M9. The file brings with it improvements to the rear camera. As we pointed out in our review of HTC's new flagship (which you can read right here), the 20MP rear camera is a vast improvement over the 4MP Ultrapixel snapper used on the back of the HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8). But not only were there still some issues with it, pictures taken in less than optimal lighting conditions were not up to snuff. After downloading and installing this update, you should see an improvement in pictures taken with the rear camera.
