LG Watch Urbane reportedly headed to Verizon to take on the Moto 360
4/27/2015 1:15:00 PM
Verizon Wireless is already selling several smartwatches, but only one of them has a circular display: the Motorola Moto 360. Well, it looks like Verizon's Moto 360 will soon have a direct competitor in the LG Watch Urbane.
According to promo material revealed by Android Spin, Verizon should launch the LG Watch Urbane tomorrow, on April 28, for $349.99 (that's more than what you have to pay for a Moto 360: $249.99 with a leather band, or $299.99 with a metal band).
Made out of stainless steel, the Watch Urbane is dust- and water-resistant, and has a 22mm genuine leather wrist band ...
Rule change for FCC spectrum auction requested by Sprint, T-Mobile, Spire and Dish
4/27/2015 1:03:00 PM
T-Mobile, Sprint, Dish Network, Spire Wireless and others are requesting changes to the way that the FCC will conduct its auction for the 600MHz broadcast television wireless spectrum. The group wants the federal agency to conduct the auction as planned, with one big change; it wants half of the spectrum being auctioned off, roughly 40MHz, to be reserved for smaller carriers.
Current FCC laws prevent the agency from holding more than 30MHz of spectrum aside for carriers who currently own less than 45MHz of spectrum under 1GHz in a given market. This would prevent industry leaders like Verizon ...

Over the past couple of years, front-facing cameras on smartphones have started getting more and more attention as the selfie trend skyrocketed. Customers want to be able to take better selfies with their smartphones, and with this being a consumer's market, the manufacturers complied. Called the "Selfie", the new smartphone from BLU tries to take advantage of this modern-age trend.
The main attraction of the BLU Selfie is its 13MP front-facing camera, one that also comes with an LED flash. On the back, there's another 13MP camera, also paired with an LED flash. In other words, the BLU Selfie ...
Ultra-thin Oppo R7 will be officially announced next month
4/27/2015 11:52:00 AM
Oppo today confirmed that its rumored R7 smartphone will be officially unveiled next month, in May, although it's not clear if the announcement date is May 20 (as previously reported).
It seems that the R7 is the successor to last year's Oppo R5, despite the fact that an R6 doesn't exist. It's said that the R7 will be thinner than the R5, which is a former record-breaking handset thanks to its ultra-slim 4.85mm profile.
The Oppo R7 could feature a 4.7-inch 1080p display, fingerprint scanner, a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor, a 20.7 MP rear camera, and a 2000 mAh battery. ...

From premium to dust - watch what a Blendtec blender does to an Apple Watch
4/27/2015 10:09:00 AM
Poor Apple Watch! It was delayed. Dropped. Dunked. Scratched. Covered in catchup. Brutally disregarded. The only thing it was spared from was ending up sliced and diced inside a Blendtec blender. But the smug Tom Dickson, whose videos of obliterating things in his company's blenders went viral before viral videos existed, gets his hands on the Apple Watch and does what he's done to almost every Apple product before it. Blend it into non-existence.

Apple quietly obstructing Jay Z's new Tidal music service?
4/27/2015 9:27:00 AM
Jay Z's Tidal streamer might have just had a bad luck falling from 20th to 700th place on iTunes, or there might be something more sinister at play with the maligned launch of the hip-hop mogul's cloud music service. The demise of Tidal shortly after launch was chalked off to the numerous competing services, chief among these Spotify, that not even Jay Z's brand can fight. Tidal was launched as an alternative which will pay artists decent money for each play, not the pennies that Spotify throws at them. The announcement fanfare, however, with Jay Z, Beyonce, and other assorted millionaires, didn't ...
