Samsung hints at upcoming Gear smartwatch with circular display

Samsung appears to have confirmed rumors about it getting ready to launch a smartwatch with a circular display. A recent Samsung press release announced that the company plans to release the Software Development Kit for its next-gen smartwatch before the official unveiling of the wearable, a first for the company. What's interesting to note, however, is that the blog posts contains a teaser image of a smartwatch with a circular display. While this isn't exactly an official confirmation of the circular-display smartwatch, it's certainly a major hint in that direction.

The svelte Oppo R7, the subject of a ton of leaks over the last couple of weeks, could be unveiled on May 20th according to the latest speculation involving the device. Besides the rumored unveiling date, the most recent talk around the water cooler includes the possibility that Oppo will unveil a premium version of the handset called the Oppo R7 Plus. The big attraction would be a larger capacity battery than the 2000mAh juicer expected on the R7. Oppo is limited when it comes to battery size for the handset due to the extremely thin footprint of the model.

The Wi-Fi only Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is now being updated to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop

Roughly a month after updating the Wi-Fi only version of the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 to Android 5.0.2, Samsung is now rolling out the same Android Lollipop version to the 8.4-inch variant. The Android 5.0.2 update is currently being rolled out in Samsung's home country of South Korea, but other countries should get the update soon enough.


The Android 5.0.2 firmware for the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab S 8.4 will roll out both over-the-air as well as through Samsung Kies. You can check for the OTA update by going to Menu >> Settings >> About device >> Software update ...

AnTuTu has published a list of the top ten most popular Android smartphones that people from across the globe have used to run the AnTuTu benchmark app on. As it turns out, the most popular Android smartphone of Q1 2015 at the global was the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. 

9.87 percent out of all the Android smartphones used to run the AnTuTu benchmark app between January 1st and March 31st were some version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The Samsung Galaxy S5 took the second place with 7.68 percent, while the Xiaomi Mi Note took the third place with 6.89 ...

Just the other day, we told you that the rollout of Cyanogen 12 to OnePlus One owners had been temporarily put on ice. The reason, according to a tweet from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, was because the manufacturer wanted to add a new feature to the OnePlus One before the Lollipop based Cyanogen 12 was pushed out to all units.

Analyst: Apple will not release a new 4-inch iPhone this year

In a note to investors on Wednesday, Chi Kuo - one of the most respected Apple analysts on the globe - said that he doesn't expect Apple to release a new 4-inch iPhone this year. Instead of releasing a new small-screened iPhone in 2015, the analyst believes that Apple will continue offering the iPhone 5s at a lower price while discontinuing the iPhone 5c by the end of this year. As with all rumors, make sure to digest this information with the proverbial grain of salt.
