AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon get their AWS-3 licenses, Dish's plate is still empty

While this is not an indication that the FCC is going to withhold the licenses that Dish Network's designated entities successfully bid on back in January, the FCC is still reviewing the final applications as it assigns licenses that were won in the AWS-3 auction.

AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai have made known their disapproval of Dish Network's tactic to use designated entities in order to gain a 25% discount on spectrum won in the bidding.

In an era where actual voice calling activing on mobile phones is not growing the way data usage is, it is pretty impressive to learn that Big Red's brood of customers are quite chatty.

Verizon reported that since it launched Voice-over-LTE service this past September, more than 1 billion HD calls have been placed, and more than 3 billion minutes used.

Branded as "Advanced Calling," Verizon's VoLTE service is compatible with more than a dozen devices. All the expected flagship devices are on the list, including the latest iPhones, the latest Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, the new HTC ...

 

Bing.com changes the UI on its website for Android and iPhone users

If you use the mobile browser on your Android or iOS handset to open up Bing.com, you're going to find some UI changes initiated by Microsoft. On the home page, swipe up from the bottom to see the top trending stories as they update throughout the day. You will also spot the new translucent color on the front page of the site. And taping the caption on the "Image of the Day" will show you a card containing more information about that image.

Apple talks with musicians about exclusive streaming deals for its revamped Beats Music service

When the next iOS update is released, it should come with Apple's revamped Beats Music feature. Apple purchased Beats for $3 billion in May of last year, and speculation has the tech titan offering a $9.99 a month streaming music service for individuals and a $14.99 plan for families. Looking to compete against such popular music streamers as Spotify, Apple is hoping to sign up certain musicians to exclusivity deals.
