The 5 Quad HD display phones with the largest batteries
4/21/2015 7:06:00 AM

The LG G3 was the first among the big boys to feature a display with 1440 x 2560 pixels, or the so-called Quad HD (QHD) resolution, breaking the 500ppi pixel density barrier in the process. It also introduced us to the fact that with great technology advancements come some not-so-great tradeoffs, chief among those being the G3's battery life, which is inferior to most other 2014 flagships on account of the big, ultra high-res display made with previous-gen technology.

Subsequently, most major and minor brands issued phones with Quad HD display panels, to the state we are now ...

4/21/2015 7:06:00 AM

The Xiaomi Mi 4i is coming, and it's expected to bring a little revolution when it comes to affordable flagship-grade smartphones with an alluring price to feature set.

Xiaomi, the world's biggest start-up, valued at some $45 billion (Uber, the car hauling company, is second with $40 billion valuation) has now announced that it will livestream the event live from New Delhi in India. India also happens to be the expected primary market for the Xiaomi Mi 4i. An extremely price-sensitive market, India is a huge opportunity for Xiaomi, as it is the world's ...

Did you know: 'Ok, Google' voice command comes crippled on Samsung's Galaxy S6, S Voice promoted instead
4/21/2015 6:50:00 AM

The 'Ok, Google' command is a staple of the Android platform's voice recognition capabilities: on most of the latest phones, you can say 'Ok, Google' anywhere and have the voice recognition window neatly pop up, but somewhat surprisingly, this option has been crippled on the Galaxy S6, and this decision seems intentional.

While initially at the very launch of the Galaxy S6 you could use the 'Ok, Google' command from any screen and even when the screen is off (while the phone is charging), now, after an update, you can only use 'Ok, Google' ...

This near-perfect Galaxy S6 clone can take you for a ride
4/21/2015 6:09:00 AM

Hot on the heels of our guide to flagship clones and fakes, and how to distinguish them from the real deal, comes this clone of the Galaxy S6 that shows what the Chinese cloning kung-fu is capable of. It also does show, however, that all the advice in the world can't prepare you for what you could see in flesh and blood.

The exterior might be a near-miss copy that would fool the typical user, but once you fire it up, the situation changes quite a bit, as the innards are pretty weak - an HD display against the Quad HD one of the S6, a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 against a blazing ...

4/21/2015 5:02:00 AM

The good folks from Samsung have had CSC carrier setting features since Android 4.1 on their handsets, easing the transition of a newly announced phone from the assembly line to the carrier shelves with features and connectivity perfectly aligned with the carrier's marketing plans. It's exactly those features that are having many hidden and system functions you can tinker with, unlocking numerous possibilities that your carrier, or your country's legislation (call recording) might have blocked.

Head over to the source link to check what ...

Of course, we've reviewed all iPhones, and while some have truly wooed us, others have failed to impress; sometimes the Apple was golden, sometimes it was rotten. Right below you will find a list of all Apple smartphones, sorted in accordance to the review ...

Fitbit Surge Review
4/21/2015 4:28:00 AM

Introduction
If you haven't noticed, Fitbit has been somewhat busy of late, evident by the trio of new products they've recently announced. First up was their most affordable new offering in the Fitbit Charge, then followed by the heart rate sensor packing Fitbit Charge HR, which now leads us to its latest product – the Fitbit Surge, aka the "fitness super watch." That's a peculiar attachment, considering there have been a handful of smartwatches saturating the market, but what makes the Surge befitting of that reputation? At its core, naturally, it's a fitness ...

Qualcomm to trust Samsung with Snapdragon 820 production, jumps the TSMC ship
4/21/2015 3:05:00 AM

Samsung has won back the trust of Apple with its shovel-ready 14nm FinFET production process, and now Qualcomm might be folding its tents over at TSMC, and moving over to the Samsung camping grounds, too. The TSMC foundry's 16nm wafers production was postponed again for the second or third quarter of the year, all the while Samsung has been gradually increasing its production capacity, reduced the prices, and achieved stellar yields for the superior 14nm FinFET process.

According to industry insiders, all these combined have forced Qualcomm to jump the TSMC ship for ...

How to tell if your Android device is a fake or a clone
4/21/2015 3:03:00 AM

As is the case in other industries, there will always be those that try to usurp the success of a given company by trying to siphon some of the profits. In the mobile industry, this usually means outright fake/clone devices that attempt to fool the consumer that they're something they're not – like the latest Galaxy S6, or the Note 4. The more successful the device, the more likely it is that somebody somewhere (usually in China) is making clones of it and is trying to stuff it down customers' throats.

Naturally, this fact makes people uneasy, especially when they're ...

Alcatel OneTouch Watch Review
4/21/2015 2:57:00 AM

Introduction
Alcatel surprised many during CES 2015, when it announced a peculiar smartwatch of sorts. At first thought, most folks believed they were entering the Android Wear community, but that didn't quite become the reality, as the Alcatel OneTouch Watch turned out to be compatible with both Android and iOS devices. In a way, that one unique perk gives it a step up over its Android Wear counterparts, since their reach is only limited to Android devices. Having so many options to choose from in the space, can the Alcatel OneTouch Watch deliver the punch to ...

4/21/2015 2:49:00 AM

Chinese smartphone maker Elephone's output has been rather interesting lately, as the company is aiming increasingly higher. Last time we spoke of these guys, it was about a $200 flagship by the name of Elephone P7000 that flaunts brag-worthy specs - an octa-core chipset, 3GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 16MP main cam, and a 3200mAh battery. Way to get the tech crowd's attention!

Anyway, the company has come up with something even more impressive this time! At the annual Hong Kong trade fair, Elephone demonstrated a secret-y new flagship smartphone with dreamy specs ...

New images of Oppo R7 surface showing off thin, all-metal design
4/21/2015 1:30:00 AM

More images of the Oppo R7 have appeared, and the device is now said to be thinner than the 4.85mm measured by its predecessor, the Oppo R5. That would put the Oppo R7 in the running for the title of the world's thinnest smartphone. While earlier images showed what appeared to be a bezel-less design, that no longer seems to be the case. Still, the border around the screen remains razor thin. Oppo is said to be employing an all-metal design for the R7.

Speaking of the Oppo R5, the manufacturer is turning to a more rounded design for the corners on the new model as opposed to the squared ...

The Apple Watch isn't set to launch until this Friday, but the smartwatch sure managed to draw a lot of attention since pre-orders launched on April 10th. In a video that surfaced yesterday on YouTube, a demo Apple Watch unit is put through its start-up/boot sequence. It took 70 seconds for the device to boot up and show the watch face, which is more than double the time that the iPhone 6 needs to get past the Apple logo.

Obviously, there's a huge difference in terms of processing power between the two Apple devices. The iPhone 6 comes with an Apple A8 chip, one of the fastest ...
