MediaTek unveils two new 64-bit chipsets for tablets

MediaTek, whose chips now are stuffed inside low-end, mid-range and top-shelf handsets in Asia (including the recently announced HTC One M9 Plus) has announced two new chipsets designed for tablets. The MT8163 and MT8736 SoCs both feature four cores and 64-bit architecture. But there are some major differences between the two.

The MT8163 chipset is designed for tablets that feature Wi-Fi connectivity only. MediaTek promotes the SoC as one that can produce AnTuTu scores in the 30,000 area. It offers four Cortex A53 cores and can support Android 5.1, H.265 video, dual band Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth ...

Apple has announced that its annual WWDC 2015 Developer Conference will take place from June 8th through June 2015 in San Francisco. Apple says that this year it has scheduled "more sessions than ever before." Those hoping to attend in person can apply for tickets now through April 17th at 10am PDT/1pm EDT. Apple will tell you via email whether you've been selected to buy a ticket no later than 5pm PDT/8pm EDT on April 20th.

So, when we first heard about the apps that will be baked into the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge at launch, many were baffled as to why Samsung would have Microsoft's OneDrive, OneNote, and Skype installed on its flagships from the box. A month later, those rumors were confirmed and we now know for a fact that Sammy plans to have Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, and Skype on upcoming 2015 tablets, and we wouldn't be surprised to see at least some of said apps baked into this year's iteration of the Galaxy Note line.

According to a new report from Reuters, Apple is expected to increase production of the Apple Watch in order to meet surging demand. With shipping dates for Apple Watch pre-orders pushed back by four to six weeks, and some models not expected to ship until July, it looks like Apple needs to quickly figure out a way to meet demand for the first smartwatch in the company's history.
