Sapphire glass panel from an Apple Watch gets hammered and drilled on video; does it scratch?
4/9/2015 4:14:00 PM
With the Apple Watch officially launching two weeks from tomorrow, wouldn't you like to know how durable Apple's smartwatch is? You should expect the timepiece to hold up under most situations. After all, outside of the entry-level Apple Watch Sport (which is utilizing Ion-X glass), the display on the watch is sapphire glass. If you remember all those months ago when the Apple iPhone 6 was rumored to include a sapphire display, we told you that sapphire is the second hardest material on earth after diamonds.
Apple already has employed sapphire glass to protect the rear camera on the iPhone, ...
Apple iPhone 5s sales jump; analyst worries about what it means for Apple
4/9/2015 3:15:00 PM
According to Societe Generale analyst Andy Perkins there is something strange and ominous about a sudden pick up in sales of the Apple iPhone 5s. The older iPhone model has jumped from contributing 10% of Apple's first quarter sales to counting for 20% of such sales in the current quarter. Perkins said that when an older model handset starts losing sales, it almost never rebounds, which makes this all the more interesting. The information is based on handset exports from contract manufacturers Hon Hai, and Pegatron. Both companies assemble iPhone units for Apple.
The analyst's concern stems ...
Another Sony Xperia Z4 render shows up, larger front-facing speakers visible
4/9/2015 1:59:00 PM
Later this year, when Sony will officially announce the Xperia Z4 (the smartphone, not the tablet, which was announced in March), there might be little to no secrets left for the company to reveal. That's because we've already seen live photos of the Z4, while also hearing quite a lot about its alleged features. On top of it all, we can now take a look at a new Xperia Z4 render, which shows a device that isn't different from the one that was previously unveiled (thus being relatively similar to its predecessor, the Xperia Z3).
Compared to the Z3, the Xperia Z4 has larger front-facing speakers, ...
UK retailer Tesco launched a Galaxy S6 edge in space for the kicks, and is about to live-stream it
4/9/2015 10:25:00 AM
UK retailer Tesco will celebrate the Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 edge launch with an appropriate blast-off that sees one courageous S6 edge taken to the literal edge of space! Technically, it's a pretty quiet blast-off, as Tesco accomplished the mission with a space baloon instead of say, renting a Space X rocket from Elon Musk. But we can't blame Tesco for opting for the cost-effective approach in today's tough economy!
The S6 edge was launched from a secret location somewhere within Peak District National Park. Tesco says its baloon-smartphone-and-duct-tape Android spaceship reach travelled ...

Some Galaxy S6 units have a LED flash that refuses to stop working, Samsung promises a fix
4/9/2015 9:40:00 AM
The Samsung Galaxy S6 got this close to being perfect, but shipping the flagship and its edgy compatriot to the cheering masses has been anything but free of problems. Following those early T-Mobile units that came to customers scratched all over, another issue began rearing its head, and this time, it seems to occur on Galaxy S6 units globally.
5 hidden Chrome for Android features that you can make use of right now
4/9/2015 9:37:00 AM
The Android version of Google's Chrome browser is now installed on anywhere between 500 million and 1 billion devices, making it by far the most popular mobile browser in existence. There are a few reasons it's so popular, and while some of them have nothing to do with how good it is (e.g., Google requires its partners to pre-install it on their devices), it is hard arguing it's anything but a top notch product – our recent, in-depth review of Android browsers agrees.
How to turn off some of the pixels on your Samsung Galaxy's display and save battery
4/9/2015 9:36:00 AM
Well, folks, it's 2015 and it's officially the year of QHD displays for smartphones – every flagship out there (safe for the HTC One M9) is on the wacky race of packing as many pixels under its glass roof as possible – even if such density and sharpness is often scrutinized for being redundant and at the expense of precious battery life.
So, some fans love their images to appear extra crisp, while others believe that going beyond the 1080x1920 resolution on a ~5" screen is madness, but we all can agree that the extra pixels, useful or not, will always mean extra battery drain. If there is ...
Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Samsung Galaxy S6 edge
4/9/2015 9:26:00 AM
Introduction
Last year, Samsung did something memorable with the Note line. For the first time ever, it split the new generation into two separate entities, two new Note phones. One was the regular Note 4 – the standard, feature-packed upgrade to the Note 3 that all of us expected. The other, however, managed to take us by surprise. It was another Note, very similar to the Note 4, yet markedly unique and way more futuristic. That second handset was called Galaxy Note Edge, and its main standout characteristic was that the right-hand edge of its sizable screen was curved inwards towards the ...
Xiaomi sells 2.11 million phones on festival day
4/9/2015 9:23:00 AM
Yesterday morning, we told you that Xiaomi had sold 1.6 million handsets after 6 hours of its festival day sale. This has turned into an annual event that is now timed to coincide with the company's birthday every year. On April 6th, Xiaomi turned all of five years old. This five-year old child is now one of the top smartphone manufacturers globally. It also has the number one spot in China, which is a very competitive country when it comes to handsets. Xiaomi has beaten back much more seasoned companies in China such as Lenovo, ZTE and Huawei.
So how did Xiaomi do during this year's festival ...
