HTC One E9+ makes an official debut: upends One M9 with 5.5" Quad HD screen and Mediatek's most powerful chip
4/8/2015 3:52:00 AM

HTC has officially lifted the veil off its brand new One E9+, a high-end device that will - unfortunately - be available only for Asian markets.

With a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and the most powerful chip in MediaTek's lineup, the One E9+ is an appealing phone that trumps even the flagship HTC One M9 when it comes to the screen resolution.

The key difference between the two lies in the materials used: the One E9+ sports a glossy plastic finish that appears similar to that of popular devices like the HTC Desire 816, while the One M9 features an all-aluminum unibody.

As for the ...

First pictures of the dual-SIM Galaxy S6 Duo pop up
4/8/2015 3:45:00 AM

Besides the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Samsung also seems to have a third variation of its new flagship phone - the Galaxy S6 Duo. It popped up in the Philippines first, plus the variation of the Galaxy S6 with two nano SIM card slots inside was listed on a Russian electronics retailer website as well.

We now have a more tangible proof that the dual SIM Galaxy S6 exists, as we were sent pictures of its mule, with the SIM cards tray popped out, which you can see in the slideshow below. Bear in mind that this is just a testing prototype, meaning that it is in a disguise shell, ...

New Sony phablet in the works, Xperia Z4 Ultra, anyone?
4/8/2015 3:28:00 AM

According to industry sources quoted by Taiwanese publication Digitimes, Sony is working on a new 6-inch smartphone. The large-screened phablet is said to be manufactured in Taiwan, and this is how the publication apparently got in possession of this information. Digitimes has an on/off reputation when it comes to information regarding unannounced devices, so make sure to maintain a dose of skepticism when digesting this information.

Although the publication doesn't mention any specs other than the size of the display, insider sources are quoted claiming that Sony is now focusing ...

4/8/2015 2:58:00 AM

Well, folks, it looks like the more impatient gamers will be able to get a taste of Mortal Kombat X on mobile, a week before its console release. Yep, the game has been silently released for iOS and while there is no word on when it will hit Android's Play Store, we wouldn't be surprised if it follows shortly.

Now, don't get overly excited, expecting to see the very same combo-crazy game that will be coming out for the bigger machines – the mobile version is actually a seperate title, designed specifically for touch. If you've played Injustice for iOS or Android, ...

4/8/2015 2:28:00 AM

With Google 5.1 having been disseminated to Nexus devices, the next step is to send out Android's latest and greatest build to the Google Play edition handsets. Last week it was the Motorola Moto G Google Play edition that received the update, and today it is the stock Android version of the HTC One (M8) that is the recipient of the 244.2MB file.

Android 5.1 includes even more improvements to battery life. It also enhances the 64-bit ART compiler which should help your apps open faster. With the update, lost and stolen phones will not run unless the handset's owner types in his Google password. ...

Samsung goes all futuristic with a flexible smartphone that becomes a bracelet (or is it the other way around?)
4/8/2015 2:26:00 AM

If you thought the Galaxy S6 edge and Gear S are the pinnacles of Samsung's flexible OLED screen achievements, you've seen nothing, friends. Samsung has been researching the technology for over five years now, amassing patents for wildly futuristic ideas that must wait for their time to come.

Despite the secrecy, sometimes we actually get little glimpses of the company's behind the scenes work thrown at us, and it's hard not to be impressed! Future Samsung's latest masterpiece is a smartphone-bracelet hybrid of sorts, which is - in extremely basic terms - a flexible OLED ...

Just weeks after the official unveiling of the HTC One M9, HTC has just officially lifted the cover off its new HTC One M9 Plus, a slightly larger phone with a nearly identical, beautiful unibody metal design, but it adds a fingerprint scanner built in a home button on the front and featuring the Duo Camera we know from last year's One M8.

The HTC One M9 Plus - unfortunately - is a device unveiled in Beijing, and so far, only to be sold in China.

Here is a quick glance at the most essential HTC One M9 Plus specs:

4/8/2015 1:36:00 AM

Back in November, we showed you an image of the Vivo XPlay 5S and passed along some specs for the device. Five months later, the model remains unannounced. The latest buzz around the water cooler has Vivo's next flagship smartphone getting unveiled next month. A trio of pictures shows the phone with a premium metal build, two speaker grills on the bottom separated by the connector port, a 2.5D curved frame and a double-sided glass design.

Back in November, the Vivo XPlay 5S was said to be a svelte 5.68mm thick. While it might not be the thinnest phone on the planet, it certainly can't be ...

Is this the actual retail packaging for the Apple Watch?
4/8/2015 12:33:00 AM

An Instagram user by the name of Jeremy Gan snapped a picture showing the retail packaging of the Apple Watch along with the actual device. It appears to be the 42mm stainless steel version of the timepiece with the Milanese Loop band. Another picture shows the packaging for a brown band sold separately from the timepiece. Apple Watch pre-orders start this coming Friday April 10th at 3:01 am EDT and 12:01 am PDT. The Apple Watch will launch on April 24th.

The pictures, which have since been removed from Instagram, were apparently snapped at the offices of the Daily Mail in the Big Apple, ...
