The best 5 phones with removable batteries
4/7/2015 6:54:00 AM

With the latest Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Samsung finally threw in the towel, and joined the Great Unibody Movement, sealing off access to the battery compartment of its new flagships. Phones with removable and easy-to-swap batteries are becoming a rare commodity these days, especially good ones with a swappable juicer, as flagships are increasingly turning their attention to the slim and premium design paradigm.

A lot of folks still prefer smartphones with removable batteries, though, and for various reasons, chief among which is the possibility to carry a charged spare in your ...

Is LeTV strictly keeping to its bezel-less smartphone design? Latest leak suggests otherwise
4/7/2015 6:52:00 AM

We are awaiting Chinese entertainment empire LeTV's April 14 announcement with great interest, as the company has been touting a smartphone with remarkably thin side screen bezels. But now, it appears that the bezel-deprived Android smartphone won't be the event's sole centerpiece.

We get to learn that LeTV actually has two smartphones in the pipeline, carrying the model numbers X600 and X900. The former is described as a more affordable model, while the latter is supposed to be a high-end device. This piece of info is accompanied by a photo of a smartphone that looks just ...

4/7/2015 6:39:00 AM

Meizu is about to launch a set of over-ear headphones, it appears, as the company has posted a teaser image of an empty retail box, obviously shaped to house the aforementioned accessory. Apparently, the company will be doing its best to stay in the race with other China-based manufacturers – Xiaomi and OnePlus – which have churned out affordable earphones in the past months.

Back in January, a couple of days before launching the Blue Charm, Meizu teased an image depicting blue headphones with AKG written on them, suggesting that the two companies may have formed ...

Forward-thinking HTC One M10 concept delivers all the design surprises HTC didn't
4/7/2015 6:07:00 AM

We know the HTC One M9 looks stunning, but ultimately, its looks are ever so last year's, aren't they? Well, if you too think HTC should ditch its "make-an-iconic-look" ambitions for a substantial design refresh, have a look at this HTC One M10 concept envisioned by Jermaine at androidjs.org. It makes the One M10 look exactly like a top-shelf Android smartphone could look in 2016, which means a unibody metal build with Gorilla Glass and HTC's love for metal elements sprinkled on top.

If HTC tried to make a product that looked a bit like the others - namely Apple and Samsung - ...

Microsoft Payments Inc: the future of Windows mobile payments?
4/7/2015 5:38:00 AM

A couple of weeks ago when Microsoft announced that Windows 10 smartphones will come with support for NFC payments, the company did not mention exactly what the future of Windows Phone payments is going to look like. Recently, it was discovered that Microsoft itself might be the facilitator of Windows 10 payments, as the tech giant recently filed for a money transmitter license in all of the 50 states that form the United States of America.

Faisal Khan, a banking and payments consultant that specializes in cross-border money transfer and payment systems, recently discovered that Microsoft ...

SNK Playmore has recently released a port of its classic Fatal Fury Special for both Android and iOS! The Special edition is actually a redux of Fatal Fury 2 with an added combo system and a few more characters. The game was big among fighting game fans back in the '90s, as it adorned not only arcades but many, many different consoles (from SNES up to PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 via the Live Arcade service, to be exact).

If you aren't familiar with Fatal Fury, you must've at least seen its iconic protagonist – Terry Bogart (pictured above) – cameo in one of SNK's ...

Galaxy S6 edge versus iPhone 6 user comparison results: Samsung edges Apple out
4/7/2015 4:32:00 AM

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge or the Apple iPhone 6 - which one is a better smartphone? We asked, and you told us loud and clear! It looks like the S6 edge's accomplishments in design, display quality, user interface and camera capabilities managed to steal even the mighty iPhone 6's thunder, as Samsung's curved screen flagship ranked first across all four categories.

That's not surprising, though, considering the S6 edge performs just as good as it sounds on paper! The premium build, the excellent display, the toned down TouchWiz and the beautifully ...

How to set location-based reminders on your iPhone or iPad
4/7/2015 4:14:00 AM

Albeit its intuitive straightforwardness and relative lack of features, one can't overlook the fact that iOS comes with a respectable host of pretty useful functionalities that aim to make your everyday life easier. However, some are buried deep inside the menus, while others are also hidden and not "in your face".

There's no denying that reminders usually serve a life-saving purpose in our daily lives, as there's nothing worse than missing an important deadline or forgetting about your appointment with the dentist (okay, the last one is probably not the ...

The guys from Xperia Blog have received a render, which the leakster claims to show the new Xperia C4 in all of its huge-frontal-cam glory. Apparently, the phone will ...

Samsung prepping a custom processor core of its own, might release it with the Galaxy S7
4/7/2015 3:12:00 AM

Apple has its proprietary Cyclone processor cores, Qualcomm has Krait and the upcoming Kryo, but Samsung? Well, Samsung doesn't have anything right now, and is using the stock ARM Cortex CPU cores without significant modifications. For a company as versed in silicon production as Samsung, and one that is trying to take on Qualcomm, this is a crying shame, but the Galaxy S6 maker will be remedying this situation pretty soon, reports Korean media today.

It seems that Samsung is almost ready to finally release its own processing core next year, perhaps in time for the Galaxy S7. ...

Spotlight: SMS Encryption is a no-frills, AES-encrypted secure messenger
4/7/2015 2:48:00 AM

"SMS Encryption" is a free messenger which uses the AES algorithm to encrypt SMS messages on the sender's side. Once encrypted, messages on the other side can only be decyphered with a unique encryption key. AES, also known as Advanced Encryption Standard, became effective as a federal government standard on May 26, 2002. It's a strong and secure algorithm, and without delving deeply into the complex math behind it, it's safe to say AES is more than reliable.

As for the app itself, it manages to wrap its functionality in a friendly, colorful interface that doesn't behave itself like it jumped ...

4/7/2015 2:19:00 AM

4/7/2015 1:33:00 AM

Next month will mark 38 years since Star Wars first hit the theaters and become ground zero to a veritable social movement that continues to this day.

It has been no secret that George Lucas has maintained a tremendous amount of control over the brand and marketing over the Star Wars franchise, with more than a couple rehashes of the original three releases.

Just when it looked like we were going to be relegated to a future of DVDs in a world that is increasingly becoming one giant digital file, Disney went and bough Lucasfilm for a big pile of money and almost immediately announced ...

LG started yesterday by introducing the human-centric LG UX 4.0 interface, and today, it followed up by teasing the new camera. Unfortunately, teasy LG won't reveal much details for the anxious among us, but it does advertise a F1.8-wide aperture. This is close to the Samsung Galaxy S6's F1.9 aperture, and we expect an overall improvement in light absorption and photo quality thanks to this.

The LG G4 is rumored to one-up its 16MP sensor-wielding competitor with ...
