Opera: Android tops iOS in global mobile ad revenue for the first time ever

Data from Opera Mediaworks (yes, it's a division of that Opera) shows that Android has taken over the top spot globally from iOS in revenue generated from mobile ads. For the first quarter of 2015, the Android platform was responsible for 45.8% of the revenue generated from mobile ads. However, that percentage required Android to own 65.2% of the mobile web traffic. Apple's iOS, on the other hand, was able to snag nearly the same percentage of mobile ad revenue as Android did (45.44% for iOS) with only 22.34% of the mobile web traffic.

The Huawei MediaPad M2 has been unveiled. This is the manufacturer's flagship tablet and is a follow up to last year's Huawei MediaPad M1. The slate is priced at the equivalent of $391 USD and will be available in France this month before its availability widens out to other countries next month.

The tablet is equipped with an 8-inch screen carrying a resolution of 1200 x 1920. A home grown 64-bit octa-core 2GHz Kirin 930 CPU drives the slate, which also features 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage inside. An image allegedly of the 9.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 appeared in social media today, posted by serial leaker OnLeaks. According to previously leaked information, the tablet is thinner than the 6.1mm thickness of the Apple iPad Air 2. Estimates of the measurement for the 9.7-inch Galaxy Tab S2 range from 5.5mm to 5.9mm. OnLeaks previously said that the tablet would measure 237.17mm x 169.58mm x 5.5 mm.

The latest rumored specs for the slate include a 9.7-inch AMOLED display featuring a 2048 x 1536 resolution. Samsung is going with a 4:3 aspect ratio for this model. Under the hood will ...

 

Video teasers surface for Yu Yuphoria; handset to be unveiled May 12th

Indian handset manufacturer Micromax plans on unveiling the next handset for its Yu line on May 12th. The invitations that have been sent out for the unveiling indicate that the phone will be unwrapped on Tuesday at noon India time. The device will be powered by the latest release from Cyanogen, which is based on Android 5.0. Micromax signed an exclusivity deal for India with the Android ROM provider last year. The Yuphoria, like the Yu Yureka, will be available via Amazon only.
