Sprint starts updating the Samsung Galaxy S4 to Android 5.0 Lollipop

Sprint announced today that the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update is now rolling out to all of its carrier-specific versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4. AT&T launched the 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S4 about a month ago, while Verizon started updating its version of the handset a couple of weeks ago. Both of Sprint's Galaxy S4 versions, the one that can run on the high-speed Sprint Spark network and the one that cannot, are now being updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Samsung Denmark says Samsung Galaxy Note II won't receive Android 5.0 in all markets

The Denmark subsidiary of Samsung is the latest regional arm of the manufacturer to tweet about the Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note II. Earlier this week, Samsung Gulf sent out a message from its Twitter account saying that the phablet would not be receiving the Android 5.0 update. That was countered by a tweet from Samsung Spain that said the Galaxy Note II would receive the update as long as there were no problems with it during the updating process.

European Samsung Galaxy S6 receives update to repair memory issue

European versions of the Samsung Galaxy S6 are receiving an OTA update that fixes a problem that some users are having with the handset's memory management. Apps in the background are closing earlier than they should be, and the phone is showing other signs of  having memory issues. To the rescue comes software version G920FXXU1AODG, which weighs in at 138.32MB.

The Meizu MX5 and Meizu Blue Charm Note 2 heading for June unveiling?

Meizu has a busy June ahead of it according to a report published in China. First up is the rumored unveiling on June 2nd of the Meizu Blue Charm Note 2. While the OG model was released only a few months ago, the new version of the phone is said to feature a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button. The device will also feature a bump in specs.

Second-generation Motorola Moto X getting soak tested with Android 5.1 in Brazil

Motorola announced on Thursday evening that the second-generation Motorola Moto X is undergoing a soak test for Android 5.1 in Brazil. With the soak test, a limited number of units are seeded the update. By keeping the number of phones being tested to a manageable number, it makes it easier for Motorola to monitor the test. And if there is a problem with the update, only a small number of handsets would be affected. To have your device considered to be a participant in a soak test, you must be a member of the Motorola Feedback Network.
