Leaked Meizu MX5 renders show bezelless display
5/11/2015 12:16:41 PM

The Meizu MX5 is going to get official at a special event on June 30, according to some rumors from last week. It will get a metal construction, unlike all of its predecessors, and it's also going to come with a fingerprint sensor embedded in its Home button. Then again, perhaps the most anticipated detail about this smartphone is what it will look like, since so far we haven't seen it in any leaks. Well, today a couple of renders have surfaced in China claiming to accurately portray Meizu's next flagship offering. Meizu MX5 leaked renders As you can see from these images (click on the thumbnails for the full-size versions), the MX5 will be yet another handset to employ some kind of 'bezelless' tech for its screen. The display panel has virtually no lateral bezels, and this is something that's becoming quite a trend in China. The MX5 will be in select company in this respect - with the ZTE Nubia Z9, Oppo R7 Plus, and perhaps also the Vivo X5Pro. Past mumblings mentioned that the Meizu MX5 would be powered by MediaTek's MT6795 SoC, which boasts an octa-core CPU that can be clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. With regard to these renders, you shouldn't forget that they're still unconfirmed (even by other leaks), so it's entirely possible that they're not in fact showing us the next Meizu device. As we get closer to its unveiling date, things will surely get more clear. Source (in Chinese) |...

The next Moto X to bring a 16MP OIS camera
5/11/2015 11:10:50 AM

Over the years Motorola's flagship Moto X has proven to be quite popular, if not always very well selling. Two devices, bearing the name have already proven their worth and the rumor mill has been buzzing with hints of a third one well underway. A few days ago, some alleged specs for the device surfaced and today another source claims to have more info on the smartphone's camera. The phone's 16MP sensor might just be equipped with OIS. This hardly comes as a surprise, considering most current flagship devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G4 take advantage of such technology for improved camera stability. Furthermore, this is not a new thing for Motorola either. The current Nexus 6 handset, doe, in fact, have optical image stabilization, so, including it in the Moto X (3rd Gen) should build on that experience. As for the rest of the device's specs, we currently believe that it is going to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, just like the one in the LG G4. It is yet to prove itself in real life performance, but it does promise a lot of number-crunching power in a heat-efficient package. The rest of the specs sheet includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage. The phone should be fitted with a 5.2-icnh QHD AMOLED panel, perhaps borrowed from the Motorola Droid Turbo. Other hardware includes a 5MP front camera and front-facing speakers and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box, all powered by a 3,280 mAh battery. Nothing is really official yet about the Moto X, so, the above should be taken with a pinch of salt. Source |...

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime gets the Lollipop treatment
5/11/2015 9:57:57 AM

Samsung is continuing its Lollipop expansion over its 2014 smartphones. The next in line to get the sweet firmware update is the Galaxy Core Prime, the SM-G360F model in particular. The first country to get the upgrade is Poland, but we expect other markets to follow suit shortly. The Galaxy Core Prime update is available over the air and via Kies. It brings Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS, the latest TouchWiz UX with Material Design and many interface improvements. The Core Prime update also includes updated Samsung default apps and repository, bug and security fixes, connectivity and performance improvements among others. If you can't wait for the update to reach your Galaxy Core Prime, you can try the Poland ROM from here. This can void your warranty though, so be careful! We hope Samsung expands the availability of the update to other versions and markets...

HTC One (M7) Dual SIM starts receiving lollipop update
5/11/2015 6:22:14 AM

The dual-SIM version of the HTC One (M7) smartphone, which was released in the August of 2013, has started receiving the Android Lollipop update in India. It is, however, not yet known if it's a global or region-specific roll-out. After applying the update, which is around 675MB in size, the device runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, with software version 7.117.720.6. The roll-out comes just over a week after HTC revealed that the One Mini as well as the One Mini 2 won't be getting the update. It's also worth mentioning that the regular version of the M7 started receiving Lollipop back in March this year. Thanks Ravi John for the...
