Microsoft Lumia 435 now available in US

The Microsoft Lumia 435, which was unveiled back in January this year, is now available for purchase in the US. The T-Mobile version of the device (white colour) is now listed on the Microsoft Store website, and carries a price tag of $70 sans contract. Specs-wise, the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 200 chipset with 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and sports a 4-inch WVGA screen. It comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card), and packs in a 1,560mAh battery. In terms of camera, it features a 2MP rear unit and a VGA front shooter. The Lumia 435 comes with Windows Phone 8.1 pre-installed, and offers HSPA+ connectivity (no LTE support). Android in April: almost 10% of all devices boot Lollipop

Google released the Android distribution stats for the month of April. Unsurprisingly, the share of Android 5.0 and up has grown considerably - an iteration of Lollipop boots on almost 10% of all hardware. Android 5.0 is now present on 9% of all devices - up from 5% a month ago. The newer Android 5.1 Lollipop has a share of 0.7% as opposed to 0.4% back in March. The distribution gains of Android Lollipop have come mostly at the expense of KitKat. Android 4.4 has dipped to 39.8% - down from 41.4% last month. Android Jelly Bean and its various flavors have barely dropped their distribution share in April. combined, the outdated versions run on almost 40% of all Android devices out there. Introduced in 2011, Android Ice Cream Sandwich can still be found on 5.3% of all devices. Even more surprisingly, Android 2.3 Gingerbread refuses to go away. Alleged photos of Samsung Z2 with Tizen OS leak out

Purported live photos of an upcoming Samsung Z2 smartphone with Tizen OS made the rounds online. The entry-level handset is expected to debut at some point over the next couple of months. As you can see above, the upcoming device looks like a blend between Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy S4. Samsung Z2 is all but certain to be offered mostly in emerging markets. Purported specs of the Samsung Z2 include 32-bit quad-core CPU, a gig of RAM, 2,000mAh battery, and Tizen 3.0 UI. In line with past rumors, the device is said to pack a qHD TFT-LCD display. A successor of Samsung Z1 should hardly catch anyone by surprise - the affordable smartphone has done quite well since its launch in India and Bangladesh....
