Samsung Gulf does it again, says no Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0
5/10/2015 1:17:00 AM

Last week, Samsung Gulf shook up some owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note II by saying that the phablet would not be receiving the Android 5.0 update. The tweet from the Persian Gulf arm of the Korean manufacturer was quickly followed by one from Samsung Spain indicating that the second-generation Galaxy Note model would receive Android 5.0 as long as there were no issues with the updating process.

A few days later, Samsung Denmark also weighed in by saying that both the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the Samsung Galaxy Note II 4G would receive the update in the region. It also said that ...

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 edge found on HTML5test?
5/9/2015 11:43:00 PM

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 isn't expected to be unveiled until the NFL season kicks off (with Tom Brady on the sidelines?), we've already heard that the fifth-generation of the phablet is internally referred to as Project Noble. From keeping our ear to the ground, we've also heard that the Galaxy Note 5 will also be powered exclusively with an Exynos chipset of Sammy's own making. Recently there was talk that the Exynos 7422 is being tested for use on the unit. This chip would go beyond the usual chipset and include the CPU, GPU, RAM, native storage, and a Samsung LTE modem in a single ...

Update adds a new feature to Office 365 Admin for Windows Phone
5/9/2015 10:15:00 PM

The Office 365 Admin app for Windows Phone has been updated, and a new feature added. The app is used by IT administrators to help them stay connected to their Office 365 environment while out of the office. That means that the app can be used to change the passwords of a company's fleet of handsets with Office 365 installed. This way, the admin can lock out certain company phones from logging on to the company's Office 365 files, even if he is actually sitting in Yankee Stadium cheering for A-Rod.

The update to version 2.4 adds a new feature that allows Message Center posts not written ...

AT&T: It will take a couple years to bring Mexican operations up to scratch
5/9/2015 9:10:00 PM

Earlier this year, AT&T made some big acquisitions to expand operations and become a major carrier in Mexico. To do so, the second largest carrier in the US bought Mexico's third-largest provider, Iusacell, and bankrupt NII Holdings which operated as Nextel Mexico.

The two Mexican properties added about 10 million customers to AT&T subscriber base, and provide about 70% overall coverage to Mexico's population.

That is where the hard work comes in. AT&T Mexico CEO Thaddeus Arroyo says that it is going to be a long play, "It actually will take us a couple of years to ultimately ...

Humor: Technology and Mother's Day – or technology is now our mother
5/9/2015 8:24:00 PM

Sunday is Mother's Day. Did you forget? Where there is arguably still plenty of time to get a card or some flowers for her if you are planning a visit.

Ah Mother's Day, a time to reminisce of the days when mom could be relied upon to nag the heck out of you from getting homework done to cleaning your room. Yep, we couldn't wait to grow-up and be free of "go play outside," or "did you do your homework?"

Then it happened, we went off to college or moved out when we got that job, finally we were free to do what we wanted, when we wanted, and without the telltale rantings of "mom," echoing ...

Huawei has introduced two new handsets in India today, and the pair are both budget beating devices. Priced at the equivalent of $78 USD, the Huawei Honey Bee is now the manufacturer's lowest price handset in the country. Amazon pushes KitKat-based update to Fire Phone, some added features bring it up to 2013-era specs
5/9/2015 7:36:00 PM

While Amazon works on the lessons learned from the Fire Phone in order to deliver a more impressive successor (expected next year), it is heartening to see that the online retail and web services giant is still actively pushing enhancements to its first generation product.

The Fire Phone was a big first step for Amazon, but it was also a big sales failure, forcing the company to write down over $80 million of unsold inventory.

Amazon knew the Fire Phone was a gamble, but given the company's success with tablets and e-readers, it would be unwise to write them off with smartphones just ...
