Surface 3 pre-orders start shipping; Microsoft buys the tech behind the slate's digital pen

Notifications have gone out to some of those who pre-ordered the Microsoft Surface 3, giving them the exciting news that their new slate has been shipped. The tablet was officially announced on March 31st and pre-orders were accepted starting that very day. At the time that the Surface 3 was introduced, Microsoft said that the tablet would launch on May 5th and would be available in 26 markets by May 7th.

The Windows Insider program allows Windows Phone users to test the mobile version of Windows 10. At Build 2015 last week, Microsoft announced that it now has 3.7 million subscribers in the program. Just a few months ago, the program held 2 million Windows Phone users so you can see how fast the Insider program is growing.
Microsoft is craving for feedback on Windows 10. With nearly 4 million users able to test the mobile Windows 10 build, this should provide the guys in Redmond with enough comments to know whether they are on the right track, and if any changes need to be made.

A video of Microsoft's Scandinavian General Manager Ossi Korpela reveals that the Microsoft Lumia 640 will be among the first Windows Phone handsets to receive the Windows 10 for Phone update. The handset, which is expected to be eventually released in the U.S. by T-Mobile, it's pre-paid MetroPCS division, and AT&T, will receive the update later this year according to the Microsoft executive.

A tweet from HTC in response to a question about the HTC One mini 2 reveals that the handset will not be receiving an update to Android 5.0. The phone, which was launched exactly a year-ago yesterday, carries 1GB of RAM and features the Snapdragon 400 chipset inside. The One mini 2 was supposed to be a compact version of the HTC One (M8) and offered a 4.5-inch Super LCD 2 screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280.
