Xiaomi CEO tells suppliers to prepare well, as the company aims to ship a large amount of smartphones in 2015
3/25/2015 10:33:00 AM
Xiaomi held a global supplier conference today, where CEO Lei Jun revealed the company's target for shipped smartphones this year – and it's between 80 - 100 million! Just for reference – the official data for 2014 says that Xiaomi shipped 65 million units during that year – no doubt thanks to the huge success of the Mi 3 in India and its lovely Mi 4 successor. Does a jump from 65 million to 100 million sales sound a bit far-fetched? Maybe, but let's not forget that Xiaomi has more than once stated that its willing to push out of the Asian markets and on to global distribution (you can still buy ...

6 essential apps for your car (Android, iOS, Windows Phone)
3/25/2015 9:15:00 AM
Despite manufacturers starting to pay more and more attention to the quality of the infotainment systems they integrate with their vehicles, it's more than fair to say that the industry as a whole is just now starting to play catch-up. And even if you're one of few folks out there with a brand new card with support for either Android Auto or Apple Car, literally billions of vehicles out there are still limited to either horribly outdated solutions that do little other than multimedia (and even that), or have no such system at all.

Opera Mini beta for Windows Phone gets a makeover in the form of an updated UI
3/25/2015 7:27:00 AM
For those looking for another browser to use on their Windows Phone handset, Opera Mini has been a choice since last September when a beta version of the app was made available. Websites go through Opera's servers first with Opera Mini, where they are compressed before being sent to your phone. This way, you are using less data when browsing, saving the sweet stuff for other things. According to Opera, the compression means that websites are sent to you at just 10% of their normal size. Looking at it another way, viewing a website on Opera Mini instead of most other mobile browsers will save you ...
HTC schedules "More than One" event for April 8th: dual-camera One M9+ in tow
3/25/2015 5:40:00 AM
The event will be held under the "More than One" slogan, and the teaser image for it shows a device with a similar design to the HTC One M9, but with what looks like dual cameras. HTC has already used this dual-camera approach in last year's One M8 where the practically identical secondary rear camera was used to achieve some bokeh-like effects for images.
HTC's ...
Live images of the HTC One M9 Plus crop up again, confirm specs
3/25/2015 5:10:00 AM
While the HTC One M9 Plus (or M9+, as some sources insist) isn't yet a market reality, our expectation is that the company is prepping an announcement, and it has a date in mind that will be upon us sooner rather than later. A whole bunch of renders, dummies, and even supposed prototypes have leaked already, and today we add two more to the mix.

Samsung and LG have both definitely made great advances in terms of display development – the LG G Flex pioneered the bendable smartphone display tech, while the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was the first smartphone to have a curved glass. The companies are not done, however, as representatives of both have spoken with Business Korea and revealed possible branches of the display tech that each has been working on.
LG spoke about transparent display tech – something that currently exists for niche applications, such as heads-up displays for aircrafts and luxury vehicles. According to the company, ...

A little over a month or so – that's how long the rumor mill says we have until LG gets up on a stage somewhere and lifts the veil off its new flagship, the G4. The next LG powerhouse is speculated to be a lot of things – curvy, awfully tech-ridden, and as compact as always (relative to its screen size).

It is hard to believe, but on March 31st Xiaomi will turn five. To celebrate its anniversary, Xiaomi has announced that it plans on introducing some new devices on the last day of the month.
We could see the unveiling of Xiaomi's smartwatch at the event. Earlier this month, there was some speculation that the timepiece would carry a large display and use pulse wave velocity identification to ...
