LG G4 Stylus shows up in leaked photo?
3/30/2015 7:36:00 AM
The photos of an unannounced LG smartphone in a metallic plastic casing definitely sparked some intrigue and flagship-worthy hubbub. We're saying 'flagship', because the smartphone in question was widely assumed to be the upcoming LG G4, which is already LG's most interesting smartphone ever. Expectations run high, because the smartphone rides on the success of its predecessor, and is about to reveal LG's answer to Samsung's excellent new Galaxy S devices.
MediaTek's new Helio chipset lineup to take on Qualcomm's and Samsung's finest, due out Q2 2015
3/30/2015 6:52:00 AM
Although Qualcomm is still the largest supplier of mobile chipsets, its largest rival, MediaTek, is trying hard to shorten the distance between itself and the market leader, inching towards the maker of Snapdragon chips slowly yet steady. The Taiwan-based chip maker already has the upper hand in the entry-level market and a slight supremacy in the mid-range one, as many representatives of these segments are powered by its chips. But more prominent presence in the high-end segment is still a bit elusive for the manufacturer; however, its upcoming top-tier chipsets might make it a bit more competitive ...
HTC One E9+ makes an official debut: upends One M9 with 5.5" Quad HD screen and Mediatek's most powerful chip
3/30/2015 6:28:00 AM
HTC has officially lifted the veil off its brand new One E9+, a high-end device that will - unfortunately - be available only for Asian markets.
With a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and the most powerful chip in MediaTek's lineup, the One E9+ is an appealing phone that trumps even the flagship HTC One M9 when it comes to the screen resolution.
The key difference between the two lies in the materials used: the One E9+ sports a glossy plastic finish that appears similar to that of popular devices like the HTC Desire 816, while the One M9 features an all-aluminum unibody.
As for the ...

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge vs Apple iPhone 6 Plus
3/30/2015 5:56:00 AM
Introduction
Undoubtedly, the Galaxy S6 edge is the more captivating member of Samsung's 2015 flagship line. Boasting the same specs as the more mundane Galaxy S6, the S6 edge, with its side-sloped display, is certainly a head-turning phone, probably the most advanced one Samsung has made to date.
However, the S6 edge will inevitably also clash with the Apple iPhone 6 Plus, the most feature-packed iPhone that Cupertino has in its small, but devastating arsenal. Let's see how these two fare against one another!

This one hasn't even reached stateside just yet, yet the Asus CEO already spilled the beans on an upcoming Zenfone 3 that might pop up with a fingerprint sensor attached.
Apple Watch won't be sold to walk-in customers right away, but you can book an appointment to try one
3/30/2015 4:31:00 AM
If a bunch of leaked Apple Store personnel training documents are to be trusted, then the Apple Watch won't be sold to walk-in shoppers during its initial launch window. What's going on here? Well, as you are probably aware, the Apple Watch pre-sale starts on April 10, and shipments begin two weeks later, on April 24th. During this time (and probably longer), there will be no walk-in purchases. Instead, eager customers will be able to make an appointment to try one out at the Apple Store nearby. And if they want one, they can finish off with an online reservation (right inside the store) for a ...
LeTV's "bezel-less" phone to be unveiled April 14th in Beijing
3/30/2015 4:30:00 AM
According to an image out of China, LeTV is apparently holding an event April 14th in Beijing. It appears that at least two handsets will be introduced, including one high-end model that we've already had the pleasure of revealing to you. Earlier this month, we showed you LeTV's cool looking "Super Phone," which is the X900. The "bezel-less" screen, as we've already pointed out, is not really practical although no one likes big honkin' side bezels on their phone. There is almost no way to avoid getting your fingers all over the part of the screen that would have been covered up by the bezels, and ...
Swiss-knife app SD Maid cleans your Android file system, and cleans it real good
3/30/2015 3:16:00 AM
For being such a complex operating system, Android is pretty good at taking care of itself. Installing and uninstalling apps is a simple process, and cleaning most redundant data takes a mere stroll to the Settings menu. Alas, it isn't always that simple. Uninstalled apps sometimes leave a mess on the file system. Android itself generates logs, crash reports, and other obscure entities you don't really need in your life. It sometimes places them on your SD card, which is valuable storage that didn't come for free with your device.
How important is the availability of a microSD card slot to you when buying a smartphone?
3/30/2015 2:59:00 AM
When Samsung showed off the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, it was hard not to point out that the company was turning its back on tradition – gone were the removable battery and the signature microSD card slot that so defined all of its smartphone until that point. Parts of the community and the Samsung fan base took these changes in stride, but not everyone felt that way.

Popular LG G4 live images likely showed us a mid-range model (G4 s?) with Snapdragon 610, not a flagship
3/30/2015 2:16:00 AM
Last Thursday, a bunch of live images of a device suspected to be the LG G4 or LG G4 Note (later assumed the former) piqued our interest. Here was a device that looked the part, with LG's now signature rear-mounted control keys for power and volume, and very little to cause suspicion on our side as to the set's legitimacy.
Apple Watch pre-orders won't allow you to customize watch bands and cases
3/30/2015 1:24:00 AM
If you have a specific case and band combination that you want to pre-order for the Apple Watch starting on April 10 (when reservations will start being accepted), better move on to Plan B. According to a published report on Monday, Apple is limiting pre-orders to combinations of cases and bands already put together by Apple in pre-determined collections found online in the Apple Watch Store.
That doesn't mean that you can't get what you want. But to do so, it will cost you extra. For example, if you have your heart set on a silver aluminum case and a black band, you will have to buy ...
Android 5.1 update rumored to bring new version of TouchWiz to Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (UPDATE)
3/29/2015 7:27:00 PM
According to a report published this weekend, the new version of TouchWiz that is found on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge could be made available to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 when the phablet receives its Android 5.1 update. The first Samsung devices to get the Android 5.1 update will be the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. Keep in mind that none of this has been confimed by Samsung and is all speculation at this point.
With much of the bloatware removed on the new version of TouchWiz, the result is a lighter skin that runs faster. Samsung says that the new UI is 40% lighter ...
