3/28/2015 4:38:00 AM

One of the new features that arrived alongside Apple iOS 8  is support for widgets, a feature that has been a fundamental signature of Android for a long, long time. Well, some may argue that widgets in iOS and Android greatly differ from one another in terms of integration within the UI. After all, iOS only allows you to put widgets in your notification center, while Android offers an unprecedented level of flexibility and customizability.

While that's mostly true, it doesn't mean that the widgets available for iOS are sub-par to their Android rivals. ...

Google to implement new search algorithm on April 21st, mobile search will see the greatest impact
3/28/2015 4:08:00 AM

You may or may not know this, but Google uses its search algorithms in a way that it ranks sites higher if they feature mobile optimization. It does not matter if you are searching from your phone, or Chrombook, or desktop computer, "mobile friendly" sites got a boost in search result rankings.

How does the algorithm work, and how can site owner tell if their site is affected? No one seems to know, but the factors of Google's ranking are not applied evenly which explains why many sites may not necessarily be mobile friendly.

In a few weeks, April 21st to be exact, the way Google indexes ...

Scrolling slated to improve on your Android device's Chrome browser
3/28/2015 3:07:00 AM

Scrolling is going to be smoother on the Chrome browser on your phone and tablet. That is because Google plans on using Microsoft's Pointer Events API and integrating it into the browser. The Pointer Events API is already used on competing browsers like Opera, Internet Explorer and Firefox and allows interactions with the touch and mouse to be seen as a single event (in Chrome they are seen as two separate events) which provides benefits to users and developers.

One major benefit to both is smoother scrolling. Some of the other browsers that employ Pointer Events like Firefox and IE, run ...

The LG G Flex 2's redeeming ...

3/28/2015 2:12:00 AM

Microsoft and the Windows operating system earned a new feather in their caps from Alaska Airlines who deployed 7,000 tablets as part of an enhanced passenger entertainment feature.

The hardware underneath the airline branded case is a Toshiba Encore tablet. The Encore is an 8-inch 1280x800 resolution panel powered by an Intel Atom CPU. A spec-leader it is not, but the form-factor along with the cost, and with the environment the tablet will be used, make it ideal.

According to Alaska Airlines, within weeks of its initial rollout of the new entertainment feature, the company ...

3/27/2015 11:57:00 PM

Officially announced in January at CES 2015, the Asus ZenFone 2 has several variants, from a 5-inch 720p model with 2 GB of RAM, to a 5.5-inch 1080p one with 4 GB of RAM. If you're not aiming for the high-end model, you can already buy a ZenFone 2 in the US, thanks to Amazon. Unfortunately, for now only the "international version" is available, and this does not come with US warranty.

Amazon lets you buy the ZenFone 2 ZE500CL, which comes with a 5-inch 720p display (not 5.5-inch, as the retailer suggests) and 2 GB of RAM. The handset costs $219 (in white), or $229 (in black). It comes unlocked, ...
